This Would Have Been The Time Of Year

When my late good friend Ole Tob would be chomping at the bit,anxiously awaiting football season in SWVA. I think of him often,and miss him very much. Many a time we'd get together either on here or in person and cut up,be serious about life,whatever. He was as funny of a guy as I have ever known (kept me in stitches with his Phil impressions many times),but he was also a fiercely loyal friend. He had the same kind of love and passion for his beloved Big Blue as I do my Big Red,and that's what started a great friendship. There's not a season that kicks off that I don't shoot a glance skyward,and through the sadness of missing my friend,still have a smile,because I know he's sitting alongside folks like Tom Turner watching the game of the night from the best seat in the house. This board (and this world) hasn't been the same without him. Take the time to enjoy the moment friends,because you never know when it may end. I spent yesterday evening watching my son's Wise bunch battle PV in a great baseball game,and left smiling,thinking "As rough as this life can be,it still has it's moments when I wouldn't trade it for anything". Make sure you always remember to tell the ones around you what they mean NOW,because at the drop of a tear they're gone. I know it's a ramble,but it's on my mind,and it's a good time to remind my friends on here to stop and smell the roses from time to time. Peace out amigos.

I've said for a long time we need to have more of a rememberance of Tob on here. Maybe have the first Friday of every football season Ole Tob Day? Passionate guy, and that's not a bad thing, he and I used to go over the updated point totals every Friday after the game on ICQ. May he rest in peace.

I guarantee he's chompin at the bit as much upstairs as he ever was down here. Thankfully he got things right with the ole man above a couple months before he left us. Going to games just isn't the same, and every Friday in the fall I wait for my phone to ring like it used to. He would call me around 2:30 every Friday while I was still at work and have me so fired up it's a wonder I didn't get fired...lol.

You can't help but think about him sitting there in the middle of Coach Fry, Turner, Carlock, and others. I know he's ALOT better off than we could possibly dream, but I wish he had been here to see Coach Houseright take over this season.

Thanks for keepin his spirit alive here fellers. He'd appreciate the fact that he still passes through your minds from time to time. I have no doubt.

Ole Tob was one fine individual,, he made you feel like you had know him all your life. He was one super guy.

Yeah Toby was pretty cool. Always felt like you were best friends around him. Remember before I graduated at all the football games versus Gate City, he'd always be yelling when we marched onto the field.
